Walking route Drents-Friese Wold

This route takes you through the western part of the Drents-Friese Wold National Park. First you walk through the woods on the Boschoord estate. You will find a nice mix of narrow paths and wide avenues here. This estate has an eventful history. It is managed by the Society of Benevolence. This organization was founded in 1818 to give poor city dwellers the chance to escape their poverty through mining colonies. However, the soil around Boschoord turned out to be barren, so it was decided to give up the colony and plant a forest on it. At the edge of the forest you will pass Zonnekamp Camping: time for a cozy terrace. You then walk through the forest to the Doldersummerveld. From the watchtower you have a beautiful panorama over this heathland!
