Description

Your route starts at Cafe't Sluisje. The islands of IJburg were constructed around 2000 by applying sand layer by layer using the pancake method. After a nice tour through the parks of IJburg you arrive in Schellingwoude. From the Schellingwouderdijk you have a beautiful view over the water and the boats. Most houses are located on the dike here along the IJ. On the other side is the Zeeburgereiland, which was constructed at the beginning of the twentieth century. From here you can walk straight into Nieuwendam, a centuries-old village that has now become part of Amsterdam. While walking you can clearly see that it used to be an independent village, it has its own atmosphere. Along the Nieuwendammerdijk you will pass a whole series of characteristic wooden houses. What a history, beautiful!
