Schellingwoude Tour from Amsterdam

Your route starts at Cafe 't Sluisje. The islands of IJburg were created around the year 2000 by applying sand layer by layer using the pancake method. After a pleasant walk through IJburg's parks, you'll arrive in Schellingwoude. From the Schellingwouderdijk, you have a beautiful view of the water and the boats. Most houses are situated along the dike here along the IJ. On the other side lies Zeeburgereiland, constructed in the early twentieth century. From here, you walk straight into Nieuwendam, a centuries-old village that has since become part of Amsterdam. As you walk, you can clearly see that it was once an independent village; it has a unique atmosphere. Along the Nieuwendammerdijk, you'll pass a series of characteristic wooden houses.
