Description
First you drive through the dunes for a bit. Enjoy the peace and fresh sea air. Then you cycle to Nieuw-Haamstede. Here you pass the Westerlichttoren: a 58-meter-high lighthouse from 1837. This lighthouse adorned the 250-guilder banknote until the introduction of the euro. The surrounding staff houses from 1840 are classified as monuments. Via the picturesque village of Burgh you drive to Boswachterij Westerschouwen, the largest forest in Zeeland. Then you cycle a long way along the Oosterschelde coast. Get a breath of fresh air while looking out over the water. You will pass the Plompetoren, an old church tower from 1468. From the top you have a beautiful panorama of the surroundings. Further on you will pass the Schelphoek creek area. You drive back through the polder to the start and end point: Hotel Blooker.
