Historical walking route Gorp and Roovert Estate

Your walking route starts at the historic Restaurant De Nieuwe Hoef. In winter you can warm up by the fireplace with a hot cup of chocolate, and in good weather you can sit on the cozy spacious terrace. The beautiful Gorp en Roovert estate stretches out in front of you here. Here you will find a mosaic of deciduous and coniferous forests, occasionally you pass fields and grasslands. You also cross the Rovertse Leij, via the Paradijsbrug. Take some time at Fusilladeplaats and War Graves Gorp and Rovert, where 5 hostages were executed in reprisal for the sabotage on a railway line in Rotterdam on August 7, 1942. In the hamlet of Gorp you will see some old farms and a monumental hunting lodge. A beautiful place that takes you back in time.
