Discover the Green Heart: cycling along the Nieuwkoopse Plassen

Your route starts at TOP Pondskoekersluis. This lock owes its name to skippers who transported cakes from the former Mijdrecht factory. They paid at the lock with a pound of cake, putting the lock money in their own pocket. You cycle through a landscape with wide views. You will pass De Groene Jonker with its many birds. Then you cycle along the Nieuwkoopse Plassen and the Meije, a strongly meandering peat river. How quiet it is here! You pass through Woerdense Verlaat, along the banks of the Kromme Mijdrecht you drive back to the starting point.
