Gemert-Bakel, North Brabant, The Netherlands
Hiking route: 1007805
Provided by: Groots Genieten
Gemert is a beautiful picture with its own castle, right in the center. Take a nice walking tour past the castle and to a beautiful mill, to a fifteenth-century church.
Castle
Then you put on your walking shoes and walk further into the lovely Gemert. Gemert Castle still stands proudly. The main building of this castle was built in 1740 on a cellar vault of the original castle from 1391. The front gate was built around 1600. The castle is surrounded by a park, which consists of extensive land with various farms.
People's friend
On the edge of Gemert is the Volksvriend, a flour mill from 1887. In 2014, the mill was sold for the symbolic amount of one euro to the municipality, which leased the mill to the Molenstichting Gemert-Bakel. This allowed the mill to be completely restored. At the end of Ridder Square you can take a look at the St. John's Beheading church from 1437 before returning to your starting point.
Tour tip; Hiking with kids! Routes up to 5 km are ideal
