Unique in the Netherlands: the Camperduin lagoon. Enjoy the wonderful view and the playing bathers - you can also spot special guests, such as seals!
Lagoon
Your walking route starts with a cup of coffee on the spacious terrace of Strandpaviljoen Hargen, beautifully situated in a unique nature reserve on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Netherlands. A lagoon was created here in 2015. Since the coast between Hargen and Petten was reinforced, hundreds of meters of beach have been added. A wide beach has been created between Hargen and Petten. New dunes have also been constructed, all to make the hinterland more resistant to flooding.
Seals
You walk north along the lagoon. During your walk you can spot seals and enjoy the wide view. The lagoon is also popular with bathers, who can cool off here. Ideal for small children who can splash around and build sandcastles. Canoeists and surfers have also discovered the lagoon. Straight through the dunes at the Hargergat you walk back to your starting point under Camperduin. What a beautiful natural route!
