Historical discoveries on the Veluwe

The route starts at Hotel Mennorode. You cycle straight through the woods to Hoog-Soeren, a village with a historic atmosphere. A little further on, you ride along the edge of the Houtdorperveld and arrive in charming Garderen. The Sprielderbos is one of the oldest and most beautiful forests in the Netherlands; it offers wonderfully peaceful cycling. From Putten, you make a crossing through the Gelderse Vallei to Ermelo. On the edge of the Ermelose Heide, you can still see the outlines of the only Roman marching camp that left its mark in the Netherlands. Shortly afterwards, you ride past the picturesque Staverden Estate, the smallest town in the Netherlands. In the castle gardens, you can enjoy a drink on the terrace at Brasserie Staverden. Finally, you cycle through Elspeet with its characteristic farmhouses.
