Tour of Maurik's island

This route leads you from the watery area of Maurik to small villages through varied nature reserves.

Lingedael estate
Via Eck en Wiel en Ingen you cycle to the Lingemeer, a recreational lake on the north side of the Betuwe river Linge. The Lingemeer was created by sand extraction. The lake is surrounded by the Lingedael estate. This area, which is located between De Beldert and the Lingemeer, is still under development and should have a Frisian appearance. You cycle around the Lingemeer, what a nice place! Then you set course for De Beldert and cycle for quite some time along the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal.

Around Rijswijk
Then you cycle around Rijswijk towards Maurik Island. Due to the construction of the weir in the Lower Rhine near Amerongen, the river that originally ran past Maurik was moved a few hundred meters to the north. This created a dead river arm near Maurik. The area in between is now called Maurik Island; a recreation area for water sports enthusiasts and a beautiful nature reserve. After this you cycle again to the final destination of the route: Eetcafé"Here is't\\\" in Maurik.
