Description
In Hindeloopen you will find a special cultural history. In the area around the town it is beautiful to walk through the polders.
Polder mill
You set off on a path where few cars drive. You walk through the wide polders, a lovely place to blow away the cobwebs and clear your mind. Just before the dike you see the Nylânnermolen, a thatched polder mill from 1784.
Lighthouse
As you walk along the former Zuiderzee dike, you will see the former Workum lighthouse on the left. On the right you look out over Stoenckherne, an outer dike salt marsh area that turns yellow in the spring due to the rare spider-dotter flower. In the distance you can see the church tower of Hindeloopen, a picturesque town with many old buildings.
