Tour of Hilversum and Loosdrechtse Plassen

You start this varied route in Oud-Loosdrecht where you will see numerous old farms. Then you cycle over a dike through the Loosdrechtse Plassen. This nature reserve was created during the 16th century by peat extraction. You drive a bit along the Vecht, a babbling river where several stately villas have been built over the centuries. East of Vinkeveen you cycle through the wide polders, after which you drive back to the Loosdrechtse Plassen. Further on you will pass through the Spanderswoud, a former country estate where you cycle past fragrant conifers. The Corversbos was also once an estate. You can see this in the stately beech trees that adorn the area.
