Tour of Hilversum and Loosdrecht Lakes

You start this varied route in Oud-Loosdrecht where you will see many old farms. Then you cycle over a dike through the Loosdrechtse Plassen. This nature reserve was created during the 16th century by peat extraction. You cycle along the Vecht for a while, a babbling river where several stately villas were built over the centuries. East of Vinkeveen you cycle through the vast polders, after which you cycle back to the Loosdrechtse Plassen. Further on you will pass through the Spanderswoud, a former country estate where you cycle past fragrant conifers. The Corversbos was also once an estate. You can still see this in the stately beech trees that adorn the area.
