Description

This route takes you through a number of truly picturesque towns. You will see many monumental buildings here, such as typical bell-shaped farms and polder mills. The West Frisian polder is known for its panoramic views, high Dutch skies and colorful bulb fields. It is a pleasure to walk in such a beautiful landscape, especially when you know how much work it took to tame the sea and wastelands. The old hamlets and ribbon villages that arose here after the reclamation, such as Sint Maartensbrug, are not well known but worth a visit.
