Description
At the mouth of the Western Scheldt, some beautiful cycling gems await you. From Cadzand-Bad you drive to Breskens. Here you cross for a return ticket to Vlissingen, after which you cross the polders.
Cadzand-Bad
From Cadzand-Bad you can drive straight into the beautiful coastal strip of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Here you can cycle through the dunes at your leisure and enjoy the silence and natural beauty. One time you drive in the lee, then again you enjoy the salty sea breeze. You will pass the Verdronken Zwarte Polder, a rugged nature reserve with dunes and shrubs. You also cycle through Groedse Duintjes, a young nature reserve with thickets, reeds and pools.
Flushing
From Breskens you take the ferry to Vlissingen: a beautiful crossing over the Western Scheldt. From the water you can see the port city beautifully. You make a tour along the harbor and the old center. At Zand Paviljoen Pier 7 you are welcome for a delicious meal before you sail back to Breskens. Finally, you drive through the vast Zeeuws-Vlaanderen polders with their rows of trees, vast meadows and creeks. What a beautiful cycling region!
