Walking around Simpelveld

You can't really go for a nicer walk than in the South Limburg hilly landscape. Be surprised by the surroundings of Simpelveld and the beautiful, rolling countryside.

Walking from Simpelveld
The starting point of this walking route is Bungalowpark Simpelveld, which is located in the middle of the rolling South Limburg landscape. Spend a cozy night in one of the bungalows and be awakened in the morning by the sound of birdsong. At the associated restaurant you can enjoy a delicious Burgundian snack and a drink, such as typical Limburg sour meat.

Sightseeing en route
Simpelveld is located on the so-called Miljoenenlijn, the railway line that was built in 1934 for the transport of coal from the mines. Today, the railway is still used as a tourist attraction. There is a steam train of the Zuid-Limburgse Stoomtrein Maatschappij and that has ensured the growth of Simpelveld. On the way you can take a rest at Herberg de Bernardushoeve in Voerendaal or at Brasserie Eyserhof in Eys.

Simpelveld is beautifully situated at the foot of the hills: this is the gateway to the slopes of the south. The surroundings of Simpelveld are sloping and there are sunken roads and pieces of slope forest. The surroundings of Simpelveld are ideally suited for walking. The Heuvelland is part of a nature reserve that extends far beyond the national borders. The area is seen as the paradise for walkers and cyclists. The rolling landscape, which is typical for this vast nature reserve, offers a range of opportunities for cyclists, mountain bikers, runners, horse riders, hikers and cyclists.
