The Sint-Jansberg and the Klever Reichswald

There are beautiful nature reserves around the German border near Groesbeek, such as the Sint-Jansberg and the Klever Reichswald. Here you will discover the largest chestnut forest in the Netherlands!

Sint-Jansberg
Your route starts at Boscafé Merlijn, just across the German border. Grab a terrace in the house garden or drink a cup of coffee inside by the wood stove. Then you walk up the wooded Sint-Jansberg, a former estate that continues into the extensive forests of Groesbeek. Here you will find a moraine landscape from the ice age on which the largest chestnut forest in the Netherlands grows. Beautiful in the fall! You can also see clear streams flowing here.

Cleve Reichswald
From Sint-Jansberg you can enjoy beautiful panoramas here and there. Fields and grasslands surrounded by hedgerows lie on Dutch and then again on German territory. A little later, the woods open in front of you and you walk through the beautiful rural region around Milsbeek. You cross right through the village to the vast Klever Reichswald. You walk back to your starting point along the edge of the forest and close to the German border.
