By bike along the Zeeland Riviera

Domburg, Westkapelle, Zoutelande: every once in a while you have to get off to taste the atmosphere, walk past the shops and grab a terrace. Cycling along the Zeeland Riviera immediately puts you in a holiday mood!

Westkapelle
Your route starts in historic Domburg, a town that has really managed to retain the seaside resort grandeur of the past. You will be amazed by all the beautiful buildings! Then you drive all the way along the dike to the nice Westkapelle, with the sea on your right. An Allied bombardment destroyed a large part of Westkapelle and the seawall in WWII. The Westkapelle Creek that was created after the bombardment is now a beautiful nature reserve.

Munnikenhof
Just outside Grijpskerke you pass't Munnikenhof, a former country estate from the thirteenth century. In the seventeenth century, Jacob Cats acquired the castle, where he wrote most of his poems. Further on you pass't Welvaaren, a flour mill from 1801. You will encounter many historical surprises here, right in the Zeeuwse polder!
