Nature walk across the Strijbeekse Heide

Your route starts at Natuurkampeerterrein 't Beekdal, a suitable place for the beautiful nature walk you will take today. The name was also not chosen by chance: the Strijbeekse Heide, over which your route passes, is located on the higher sandy soils between the stream valleys of the Chaamse and Strijbeekse beek. From 1932 onwards, the heath was partly planted with coniferous wood and partly transformed into agricultural land. Now the area is increasingly being restored to its former glory. A number of fens were spared and are regularly dredged to preserve them. You will regularly encounter one during your route. Look out for the tree falcon, tufted duck, teal and little grebe that live here. On the way back you will encounter the beautiful stream valleys for which the area is known.
