Short walk through the Brachter Wald

The White Stone
The starting point of this route is the Witte Stein, on the edge of Reuver. This restaurant is ideally suited to explore the area. There is a wonderful secret close to the Witte Stein. The location borders the Brachter Wald, a vast, wooded area on the border of the Netherlands and Germany. This special forest lends itself well to hours of walks or bike rides. You can park for free at the Witte Stein and you can enjoy the beautiful terrace here with lunch or dinner. Or just a nice cup of coffee of course.

Bratter Wald
The Brachter Wald is a nature reserve on the high terrace of the Maas. The height of this wooded area exceeds 60 meters in some places. After the Second World War, the Western Allies established various military bases on this site. Until 1996, an extensive ammunition depot of the British Rhine Army was located here. For almost fifty years, a unique heath landscape could develop on the nutrient-poor shifting sand soil of this forbidden area. It was first a forbidden area, but from 1998 it is again possible to walk and cycle.

Walking in peace
There is no motorized traffic in the area, so you can walk here in peace. What a special experience! After walking in the Brachter Wald, you return to the Witte Stein.
