Description
From IJsselstein you drive many kilometers over the dike along the Lek. You also cycle through the Krimpenerwaard and Lopikerwaard: two regions that are largely below NAP.
Schoonhoven
The route starts in IJsselstein. In the historic center of this town you will feel like you are back in the Middle Ages thanks to the beautiful old buildings. Then you cycle onto the Lekdijk. Here you can enjoy views over the meadows, floodplains and the rippling water for many kilometers. What a beautiful landscape! You will find some beautiful places along the river, such as the old silver city of Schoonhoven.
IJsselstein
In picturesque Ammerstol you can enjoy a cozy terrace at Eetcafé Het Gebouw, before cycling through the Krimpenerwaard and Lopikerwaard. Here you drive through a vast polder landscape with countless willows and beautiful old farms along the road. It is wonderfully quiet here, ideal for a day of relaxation. You pass through villages such as Cabauw, Polsbroekerdam and Benschop, after which you cycle again through the beautiful IJsselstein.
