On foot through the Greenlands

The Groenlanden is a beautiful nature reserve on the Waal. You will find plenty of rest, ideal for recharging the battery. Put on your waterproof shoes and get some fresh air.

Vlietberg
The route starts at MOoij Bed and Breakfast, a unique place to stay in the middle of the nature of the Ooijpolder. You first walk a bit through De Vlietberg. This hamlet arose around a former brick factory of which only a chimney remains. While you walk on the car-free road, you can enjoy the beautiful view over the grasslands, the Waal and the wooded hills. In the distance you can see the Waal Bridge.

You walk along the rugged landscape of the Oude Waal to Tiengeboden. On the dike you pass some beautiful thatched farmhouses. Then you walk through the Greenlands nature reserve. From the lookout tower you have a beautiful panorama of the area. The Bison Bay is a former sand wing hole. From the footpath you can see wild flowers and plants, you can also encounter Konik horses and Galloway cattle. From the Ooijse Bandijk you have a beautiful view over the Waal and the floodplains.
