Description
The Ooijpolder is located just above Nijmegen, along the Waal. An ideal hiking area thanks to the tranquility and the abundance of natural beauty. Put on your waterproof shoes for a refreshing walk.
Waal bridge
After a restful night's sleep at MOoij Bed and Breakfast you are sufficiently rested for a long walk. First you explore De Vlietberg, a hamlet that originated at a former brick factory of which only a chimney remains. On the horizon you can see the green hills and Waal Bridge near Nijmegen. On the footpath you walk right along the Waal, on the left are meadows. Get some fresh air and enjoy the peace!
The lake
Then you walk along the road along Het Meer, a former branch of the Rhine that now drains the area. It is wonderful to walk along reed beds and rows of trees. In between you have a beautiful view over the meadows, to the right are the hills. You walk through the polder to Tiengeboden, a beautiful hamlet where time seems to have stood still. The route ends at MOoij Bed and Breakfast.
