This route is based on the book “ A pleasure trip in the summer of 1718, the Von Uffenbach family in the Netherlands ”. The route was created with the permission and cooperation of the author Dr. Johan R. Ter Molen and Waanders publishing house in Zwolle. Due to limited sailing times of the Ferry , this route can be driven from June to August. Outside these months you must take a detour, then from junction 25 follow junction 51, 52, 76, 1 and 78, then you are back on the route.
The Von Uffenbachs traveled by barge on the Leidsvaart to Leiden. However, from the station you will first be navigated past the other large Bavokerk in Haarlem, after which you will cycle via the Haarlemmerhout through the South Holland landscape to Leiden. You will pass various sights including the Keukenhof and the Kagerplassen. Once you arrive in Leiden, you will be guided past the locations where the Von Uffenbachs visited, including De Burcht, the Academy Building and you will end with a visit to the museum" De Lakenhal" on the Oude Singel.
