Description
This cycle route explores the polder region around Diksmuide, center of the"Boterland\\\". The region is characterized by extensive meadows, veined with numerous ditches, here and there a large farm and poplars grown crooked by the west wind. Departing from Diksmuide, the tour takes you past charming villages such as Sint-Jacobskapelle, Nieuwkapelle, Oudekapelle, Lampernisse, Zoutenaaie and Pervijze. A theme that inevitably crops up again and again is that of the First World War. The Yser formed the front line here for four years.
