Description
This cycle route explores the polder region around Diksmuide, center of"Boterland\\\". The region is characterized by vast meadows, veined with numerous ditches, here and there a large farm and poplars that have grown crooked by the west wind. Departing from Diksmuide, the tour takes you past atmospheric villages, such as Sint-Jacobskapelle, Nieuwkapelle, Oudekapelle, Lampernisse, Zoutenaaie and Pervijze. A theme that inevitably crops up again and again is that of the First World War. The Yser formed the front line here for four years.
