Campingplatz Schachenhorn is located in a beautiful location in the south of Germany: in a piece of forest directly on Lake Constance. You camp on the edge of a nature reserve, the breeding ground for various bird species. In the area you can enjoy cycling and walking. The site is quite large and has many touring pitches, which are usually full. If it is slightly busier, the pitches are quite small and the site looks a bit disorganized. Due to the elongated shape of the campsite, you always camp close to the water.
The site is on the road from Espasingen to Ludwigshafen, Radolfzeller Straße. Pay close attention to the camping signs here. It can take some searching before you find the small entrance that leads to the camping site. You drive through the trees to the open space where the small reception building is located. Here you will be helped by a friendly receptionist. But it is also possible that you will meet the more direct assistant.
Camping by the waterAt Campingplatz Schachenhorn you camp between trees and always close to the water. The pitches are not demarcated, which makes the camping site look a bit disorganized and cluttered. It can be quite busy, especially in high season. The busier it is, the smaller the camping spots. If you can overlook this, you will be rewarded with a beautiful, expansive view of the lake and the surrounding greenery. You can also choose to stay in one of the cozy hikers' cabins.
Thai foodIn the restaurant on the camping site you can enjoy an excellent meal from Thai cuisine, but you can also go there for fries. Every Friday in high season there is a nice Thai buffet. If you want to cook for yourself, it is best to drive towards Ludwigshafen. You can reach a supermarket within five minutes by bike.
Clean sanitary facilitiesA plus of the campsite is the heated and always spotless sanitary facilities. There are a few toilet blocks scattered around the campsite. Especially the sanitary facilities in the main building are modern and complete.
Active on Lake ConstanceThe location of the campsite is quite unique, right on Lake Constance and in a beautiful nature reserve. A perfect location to completely unwind. Please note: you are not allowed to swim in the water at the campsite. This piece of nature is a protected breeding area for birds. In the immediate vicinity you can enjoy walking and cycling. There are also various points around Lake Constance from where you can enter the water by boat, canoe or paddle surfboard.
