Family Camping is a cozy campsite on the Moselle, in the nature-rich Rhineland-Palatinate region. You camp here in a quiet, well-maintained spot, with lots of swimming fun for the younger youth thanks to the large children's pool. Of course there is a cozy terrace next to it with a Mediterranean look. If you look around you, you can see the hills with vines. The region is therefore oriented to wine, so you can visit vineyards, wine festivals and wine tastings. Not interested in wine? Then make trips on the Moselle with your own or a rented boat. Be sure to enjoy the historic towns, which you can admire on foot or while driving. The popular Moselle cycle path takes you to places where time seems to stand still.
LocationOn the A48 take the Cochem exit. In Cochem (located fourteen kilometers from the campsite) you drive over the bridge towards Beilstein. About four kilometers after Beilstein you will see Family Camping, just before the village of Mesenich.
Nice campingYour first impression will be that it is a well organized and clean campsite. What you call neat! There are two large swimming pools in front of the reception building annex restaurant, with an attractive square with a terrace in front of it. The Homburg family and the staff will welcome you in a friendly and professional manner. Dutch is also spoken.
A place among the grapesThe site has neat, demarcated fields and spacious pitches (80-100 m2) on a well-maintained turf. There are also places among the vines, right on the Moselle. Please note that a cycle path runs between the camping site and the river. All pitches are demarcated with plants. Special accommodation options are the bungalow tents that are set up every year. These are for rent for families with children. There is also a large apartment with a view of the Moselle.
Animation and walking and cycling toursThis campsite is very popular with Dutch young families. There is a nice playground. Children up to the age of twelve can participate in an extensive entertainment program and in the high season there are even more activities, also fun for teenagers (think of volleyball in the pool and aerobics). In the low season, older people also come to this campsite. They especially enjoy the cycling and walking tours that you can take here. You will benefit from your electric bicycle in this gently sloping environment!
Small and big swimmersThere are two large (heated) swimming pools where especially children will enjoy themselves. The little ones can splash in a shallow pool (100 m2, right by the terrace) and the older youth can go to a deeper pool (120 m2, a little further from the terrace). The cheerful whole is in full sun, with sunbeds, umbrellas and sunbathing area around.
Terrace with a Mediterranean atmosphereThere is a cafe with snack bar and bistro, where you can order something tasty from the simple menu. In front of this catering facility is a Mediterranean square with a terrace. Very cosy! For the most necessary food there is a shop (daily fresh bread). In Cochem (fourteen kilometers) you can do larger shopping and take a seat in one of the many eateries.
plumbingThe sanitary facilities are well equipped and very clean. There are also washbasins for one person, with the curtain closed if you like.
BouncerVisit the international Koblenz (approximately 70 km). Here you can take a sturdy cable car over the Rhine to Fort Ehrenbreitstein. Enjoy the view first and then a visit to the fortress. Be sure to explore a part of the Eifel, a region full of natural beauty! You can take a trip to the low mountains of the Hunsrück, where you can search or view gems. Are you not afraid of heights? The Geierlay is a pedestrian suspension bridge between the Hunsrücker towns Mörsdorf and Sosberg. At 360 meters, the bridge is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Germany.
