Campingpark Waldwiesen

Camping Waldwiesen is located just outside the town of Birkenfeld, in Rheinland-Pfalz, a not too touristy area with beautiful natural beauty. You can camp excellently at Waldwiesen on a beautiful, park-like landscaped 'nature site' full of well-maintained green areas. The sanitary facilities are slightly outdated, but are kept clean. There is a wide range of rental accommodations on the site. The camping site is an ideal base for visiting the towns of the Edelsteinstraße or for making trips in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park with its impressive trees and views.

The route to the site takes you within a few miles of the highway to a camping field at the end of a dirt mountain road. Follow the A1, then the A62 towards Kaiserslautern. Take exit 4 Birkenfeld and follow the B41 towards Birkenfeld until site is signposted. The last part of the route is on a dirt road.

Reception in cozy log cabin

The reception is housed in a wooden log cabin. There is a cozy seating area and all kinds of tourist information is available. You will be welcomed by Mrs. Schuller, the enthusiastic owner. There is no shop on site. For shopping you just go to Birkenfeld. You can do this in the center or at Lidl and Aldi, located just 500 meters from the campsite.

Well-groomed greenery

Immediately to the right of the entrance is a large, tree-lined tent field. The pitches are not marked out here. For the other places, go straight down the slope from the reception. The grounds make a well-maintained impression. The richness of greenery is striking. The pitches are spacious and surrounded by trees and shrubs, providing plenty of privacy and shade. There are six fire pits on the property. Various accommodations are available for rent at the campsite, including a holiday home, a holiday apartment, three rental caravans and the same number of Camping-Pods.

Large swimming pond

Halfway through the site is a large swimming pond of 2000 m2. The water of the pond is well controlled. An ideal place for children to swim, splash about and play boating. Next to the pond is a large playing and sunbathing area. Those who do not have enough for their splashing fun can visit the subtropical swimming pool 5 km away.

You will find guests at Waldwiesen campsite who you will also find elsewhere, although the campsite's image as a nature campsite makes it particularly attractive to those seeking tranquility and people who value nature highly. Gemstone lovers are loyal visitors to the region.

Tourist recommendations

You can make all kinds of fun day trips from the campsite. For example, visit the towns along the Edelseinstraße. For the real enthusiast, Idar-Oberstein is especially worth a visit. You will find the Gemstone Museum and the only gemstone mine in Europe. By appointment, you can even try your luck and search for the precious stones yourself. That is also possible at Edelsteindorado in Freisen. Those who are not directly interested in precious stones can interrupt their stay with a trip to the Moselle, to Trier, Cochem or the Rhine. The Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park is close by and particularly worth a visit for nature lovers, a world-class forest with impressive trees and beautiful views.
