Gern-Campinghof Salem is located on the edge of the village of Salem, just under ten kilometers from Lake Constance. This peaceful 4-star eco-labelled site is run by the Gern family. It is a real family campsite, with a friendly, hospitable atmosphere. Children are allowed to help with the care of the animals in the animal meadow. Eight hundred meters away is a beautiful swimming lake that you can walk to in ten minutes. You can reach Lake Constance in half an hour by bike.
From Stuttgart, follow the A81 towards Singen. At junction 40, take the A98 to Lindau. Continue on the B31n; there you can take the exit to Salem. After Schloss Salem you will come across two more roundabouts: the first roundabout go straight ahead (third exit) and the second roundabout turn right. You will find Gern campinghof Salem on your left. The entrance is marked by a wooden entrance gate and red flower boxes. At the reception you will be welcomed by the Gern family. If you arrive early in the afternoon, take the afternoon rest into account.
For touring motorhomesThe camping area consists of flat grassy areas on straight, dead-end paths. Several terraces have been constructed to compensate for the difference in height in the slightly sloping landscape. Between the camping pitches there are deciduous trees and high hedges, but in the summer the vegetation provides little shade. The camping area is neatly laid out and well cared for. It consists mainly of touring pitches, but there are also 25 permanent annual pitches. In addition, there are two mobile homes and a hiker's cabin for rent. You can park your car on the pitch, but there is also plenty of parking at the reception.
animal meadowGern-Campinghof Salem is a real family campsite. Especially in the high season you will see many families. In the low season, mainly seniors come. There is much to do for young children. In addition to an outdoor playground, there is also an indoor playground and a recreation room. But the best attraction at this campsite is the animal meadow. There are ponies and horses to ride, bunnies to cuddle and goats and chickens to feed. Children can help with the care of these animals: they can comb, feed and pet them. And of course collecting eggs in the morning.
The most beautiful lakeThe Schlosssee, a beautiful lake where you can swim, is 800 meters from the campsite. You can walk there in ten minutes between the fields. The water is clear and always a few degrees warmer than in Lake Constance. Swim to Robinson Island, or walk over the bridge to it. This swimming lake is known as one of the most beautiful in the region.
You can take a leisurely walk around the lake, but you will also see many runners. There are clean pebble beaches (so bring water shoes!) and beautiful sunbathing areas with plenty of shade. There is also a nice water playground where children can enjoy themselves for hours. All facilities are available, everything is clean and well maintained. Highly recommended, and entrance is free.
Flower IslandThere are beautiful cycling paths in the area. Cycling enthusiasts can enjoy the various cycling routes to their heart's content. Most trails are flat, paved, and well-maintained. From the campsite you can drive to Lake Constance in half an hour, which is only nine kilometers away. There you can also cycle beautifully on the cycle paths around the lake. Tip: Cycle over the bridge to the island of Mainau, the flower island in Lake Constance. The whole island is a large botanical garden, a beautiful park with an abundance of flowers, trees and flowering shrubs. There is also a butterfly garden and a beautiful castle. The entrance fee is a bit on the high side, but you can enjoy a nice walk and there are playgrounds everywhere for children.
