Camping BurgStadt is located in the beautiful town of Kastellaun, with its historic center. Kastellaun is located in the wooded area of Hunsruck, belonging to Rhineland-Palatinate, centrally located between the Moselle and the Rhine. Camping BurgStadt is a fantastic place for those seeking tranquility and space. Adults with children from 14 years old are welcome. The region is rich in nature, but not so touristy. There is a large hotel on the same site, which also offers its facilities to camping guests, so that you can eat out in the excellent restaurant, or enjoy wellness and fitness. The place is characterized by its tranquility, although the hotel terrace can cause some noise nuisance in the evenings for campers who are close by.
locationBurgStadt Campingpark is located in Park Hunsruck Hochwald, on the Edelsteinstrasse. If you are coming from the north and driving on the A61, take the Emmelshausen exit. Then take direction Kastellaun. Are you coming from the south? Then take the Pfalzfeld exit. In Kastellaun there are signs pointing you further.
receptionYou register at the hotel reception. You will be warmly welcomed here. What immediately stands out is the tranquility that prevails there. The site is park-like, with terraces here and there and surrounded by trees and shrubs.
BurgStadt has approximately 100 pitches, with 'loose' demarcation. The pitches are spacious to very spacious (depending on how busy they are), are on level ground, partly on terraces, and are well maintained. There are not many trees, so finding a place with a lot of shade is not easy. The intermediate paths are wide and asphalted. Along the edges are shrubs or other beautiful plants. Each pitch has water connection and electricity; you pay according to consumption on departure. The bottom is paved and consists everywhere of a layer of crushed stone through which grass grows. There are hardly any facilities for children, because children under the age of 14 are not really expected here. The only alternative accommodation option is the adjacent hotel.
Activities and amenitiesThe camping guests are mainly couples without children, or with older children (officially allowed from 14 years). Older people also like to stay here, looking for silence and nature.
Kastellaun is a beautiful town with a nice castle ruins within walking distance of the campsite. You cannot enjoy yourself here with water (no swimming pool or natural bath): this is clearly a campsite for other types of relaxation, such as using the hotel facilities: the flight simulator ('fly' in a Boeing 737), the wellness area with sauna and solarium, and the gym. For sports enthusiasts, the campsite has excursion programs, guided hiking tours and various cycling routes. The location in the Moselle-Rhine triangle is fantastic for cyclists and walkers due to the large network of cycling and hiking trails.
You can get information about cycling routes at the reception: take a bike ride on old railway tracks that have been transformed into cycle paths. Find gems, drive along the Moselle or Rhine or walk across the longest suspension bridge. Also nice: go to one of the many wine tastings that you can do in this wine region.
There are sufficient sanitary facilities that are kept very clean.
food and drinkIn the absence of a camping shop, you can get your groceries at the large supermarket, next to the camping site. You can, however, get fresh bread rolls from the hotel from 6.30 am. In the hotel you can enjoy a delicious meal in the (Greek) restaurant or drink a beer in the Biergarten. There are also plenty of restaurants in the town.
