Erholungsgebiet DoktorSee

The recreation area Doktorsee is located not far from the town of Rinteln, on the river Weser around Lake Doktorsee. This hilly landscape with alternating agricultural and nature areas, many small towns and villages with picturesque half-timbered houses, has a friendly atmosphere. Especially in spring and early summer, when the fresh green of the trees and shrubs along the Weser winding through the landscape brightens up the landscape.

From the Netherlands you first drive via the A30 to Osnabruck and Bad Oeynhausen. From there take the A2 towards Hanover. Just past Porta Westfalica, take exit 35 (Bad Eilsen), then take the B83 to Rinteln. There you turn right onto the B238, which you leave further in the town. You drive to the campsite via Konrad-Adenauerstrae, Bahnhofstrasse and Hartlerstrasse.

first impression

The first impression of the Erholungsgebiet DoktorSee is overwhelming. This is due to the enormous size of the terrain, which is difficult to oversee. Around the lake are many holiday homes and mobile homes. There is also a marina, a motorboat club, a church and lots of water. In the southeast corner of the site you will find the campsite directly on the water. At the reception you will be welcomed outside by helpful staff. Some of the places are accessible via an outside road. The site itself is well looked after and the pitches are of average size, most of them right on the water. Some of the pitches are so-called comfort pitches with all necessary connections.

Accommodation

Of course you can come here with your own tent, caravan or motorhome, but you can also rent accommodations; holiday houses, lodges, chalets and apartments. There is sufficient sanitary facilities for guests, which have recently (2016) been modernized.

entertainment

It goes without saying that everything here takes place on and around the water. There are slides and lots of floating play equipment on a long, but somewhat narrow beach. On the lake you can swim and play with boats and pedal boats. You can cast your rod in a quiet spot along the side. The campsite is dog-friendly, including special dog showers.

Two restaurants

The site has no fewer than two restaurants (Doktorweide and Terrassen-Cafe) with a wide choice of dishes from German, Italian and Greek cuisines. You can relax on the terrace with a pizza, a glass of wine or a refreshing beer.

For the youngest camping guests there are several safe and clean playgrounds and an extensive entertainment program. A mini golf course and volleyball courts can be found on site.

Activities

The wellness area consists of the SeeSa sauna with different saunas, located directly on the lake. Here you can also enjoy relaxing massages and other treatments. The DoktorSee in Flammen is special, a manifestation with lots of music and fireworks. The area, known as Weserbergland, is ideally suited for day trips on foot, by bike (bikes for hire at reception) or by car, for example to Hameln (25 km), where you can visit the Rattenfangerhaus or the Rattenfangerspiele .
