Campingplatz Auf dem Simpel

In the surprising north of Germany you camp at Campingplatz Auf dem Simpel in the setting of a protected heathland area. The cozy beer garden on the terrace is the attraction and children will have fun in the playground or the swimming pool.

Just above the town of Soltau is the park-like and well-organized camping site of Campingplatz Auf dem Simpel. This campsite has been managed by the same family for three generations. That partly explains the friendly atmosphere. From your camping spot you can walk or cycle to one of the most beautiful protected nature reserves in the state of Lower Saxony: the Lüneburg Heath. You can also cycle a bit with other campers during the guided cycle tours. During such a trip you also go across the heath with a horse tram. Those who come for peace and quiet and enjoy the outdoors can easily alternate with a dip in the pool and a visit to the restaurant.

The heath as a backyard

The location of the campsite is not only special because of the many heathlands that characterize this region, but the proximity of the Autobahn 7 is also a practical plus. If you continue to follow the Heidepark signs from the Soltau exit, you will be in front of the camping barrier in no time. From there the campsite is a partly open area in a pine forest where many pitches are bordered by natural, dense shrubbery. Many facilities such as the swimming pool, the supermarket and the beautiful restaurant are centrally located at the reception at the entrance.

A tent, a caravan or a wine barrel

The camping site has a very varied offering and consists of landscaped streets with spacious pitches on a grass surface. There are few tall trees, which gives a pleasant and open atmosphere. Tent campers can set up a spot at the edge of the forest. There are a number of camper pitches available just outside the site and the campsite also has several permanent pitches. If you are looking for a nice accommodation, the wine barrels might be a nice idea. There are also mobile homes, lodges, guest rooms and a holiday home for rent. Just what you want!

German conviviality in the beer garden

Even if you don't drink beer, the beer garden and the pleasantly decorated terrace are very attractive. In addition to a simple menu, you can enjoy a drink on the partly covered terrace. Or you can sit inside, because it is also nicely decorated. In the summer months they serve delicacies from the grill once or twice a week. In the morning the smell of fresh rolls greets you. If you really want to make things easy for yourself at the start of the day, register in advance for a breakfast buffet. Groceries and camping items can be purchased at the camping shop opposite the restaurant.

Amusement park around the corner

Children will have a great time at the campsite in the large playground or in the swimming pool. But a day at the nearby Heide Park amusement park is also an unforgettable experience. Or if the weather is bad, a visit to the play museum in Soltau is a nice outing. And if you want to see a typical tiny heath village with your own eyes, head to car-free Wilsede. Then combine the visit with the climb of the highest mountain in Northern Germany, the Wilseder Berg. In clear weather you can even see as far as the city of Hamburg!
