Stadhuis Klundert

The pride of the fortified town of Klundert stands on the Stadshuisring: the old town hall. A beautiful building built in 1621 to a design by Melchior van Herbach and thanks to a substantial contribution from Prince Maurits in the Renaissance style. The property is completely free and surrounded by greenery. During the week, the doors of the old Klundert town hall open during guided tours of local history circle Die Overdraghe or during weddings. The rectangular building is made of red and yellow bricks. The building has two stepped gables with a gable roof in between. Above the entrance, which is provided with a landing with access steps, is a gable end decorated with claws, obelisks and a broken pediment. On it is a statue of Lady Justice. Directly above the entrance is the coat of arms of Prince Maurits in a cartouche. The two lions on the balustrade of the landing are respectful.
