Kogge
The only cog in the Netherlands is located at Kamper Koggewerf. The original Koggen were widely used in the 12th to 15th centuries. The flat bottom of a Cog was very characteristic and provided a lot of cargo space. The average cog could hold up to a hundred times the load of a single cart load. Cogs were available in various sizes and therefore an extremely suitable type of ship to sail past the most important trading cities of that time, De Hanzesteden.
