Hanzestad Venlo

The city of Venlo is located on the Maas, which makes it possible to reach it easily by boat. In the Middle Ages, Venlo was a really important trading city, comparable to a city like Cologne. Due to the good trade, Venlo became a member of the Hanse, a bit late, only in 1481.
