Hoenderboom

The Hoenderboom is of historical importance. Traditionally, five municipalities came together here: Heeze, Maarheeze, Someren, Lierop, and Mierlo. This number has fallen to two (Heeze-Leende and Someren) due to municipal reorganisations. On site is a copy of the boundary marker that used to be here. Close to this is the Grafven. It is said that a number of women were murdered here in 1595, accused of witchcraft. The lords of Asten and Mierlo at the time were ardent witch hunters.
