Herman Cahn married Emma van Dam on November 10, 1921. She was born in Eindhoven on September 11, 1897. She is the youngest of a family with twelve children. They probably moved to Maasticht after their marriage, because their son was born there on March 16, 1923. They call him Maurice. Later the family moves to Amsterdam. Herman Cahn dies in 1930 at the age of 36. On March 16, 1932, the widow Emma Cahn-van Dam moves back to her hometown with her son. Mother and son settle at 8 Smalle Haven. When war breaks out, the authorities' mother and son have to live with the Cohn family at 42 Mauritsstraat. After that, they both work at the Philips-Kommando, but are deported to Auschwitz together with the other Philips-Kommando employees on 3 June 1944. When the Philips-Kommando is brought to Reichenbach to work at Telefunken and Hagenuk, Emma and Maurice are left behind in Auschwitz. According to an eyewitness report, Maurice was dying and Emma was severely weakened. Maurice Cahn is murdered in Auschwitz on October 31, 1944. His mother Emma Cahn-van Dam is murdered in Auschwitz on December 31, 1944.
