Herengracht 527 (Jacob van Lennep wandelroute)
When Jacob was studying he lived with his father at 527 Herengracht, which the professor moved into with his second wife, Anna Catharina 'Cateau' van de Poll, in 1819. Father had a large family: from his first marriage two children and Cateau bore him nine more. The 17th-century building (renovated in 1760 in the XVI style Lode district) was diagonally opposite the house of grandmother Van Lennep. Tsar Peter the Great is said to have stayed there during his second visit (1711) and at the beginning of the 19th century, King Louis Napoleon bought it. source: Marita Mathijsen, 'Deftige circles.
