Waalse Kerk (Jacob van Lennep wandeling)
Somewhat deeper in the Red Light District, Jacob got married in 1824 in the Waalse Kerk, on the Walenpleintje, a short side street off the Oudezijds Achterburgwal. His bride was Henrietta Roell, daughter of the well-known statesman Willem Frederik baron Roell, who was co-designer of the constitution in 1814 and from 1817 a member of the Senate and chairman there for many years. Their children were baptized there. In the Walloon Church, especially the elite of Amsterdam came to the service on Sundays. Source: Marita Mathijsen, 'Deftige circles.
