Rokin 112 (Jacob van Lennep wandeling)

Much better at ease, he was around the corner from the artists' association Arti et Amicitiae, Rokin 112. He was on the board there. The club was founded in 1839 because of the need for a place where artists and art enthusiasts could gather. To exhibit, a large hall with portraits of famous painters was built on the top floor. Together with friends, Van Lennep organized the first exhibition of everyday objects from the past there in 1854. The earnings were intended for Arti's widows and orphans fund.
