Woonhuis Pieter van Winter (Jacob van Lennep wandelroute)
Little Jacob was a child at home with the wealthy merchant Pieter van Winter, his mother's stepfather, in the stately house Saxenburg - Keizersgracht 224. Jacob regarded him as his grandfather (grandmother Anna Louisa van der Poorten had already died for over a year. before he was born). Four more children lived there: three aunts and one of Jacob's uncle. Grandpa Pieter had a precious art collection in a gallery behind the house. Jacob saw Johannes Vermeer's Little Street and the Rembrandt portraits of Oopjen and Marten hanging here in his early youth. Source: Marita Mathijsen, 'Deftige circles.
