Commandobunker
In the early 1950s, in the midst of the Cold War, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Luxembourg and the Netherlands built a coordination bunker for Western European air defense under the Brussels Pact. When the bunker is finally ready, the newly established NATO will install its own system and the bunker in Kemmel will be left unused. Only in 1963 did the high command of the Belgian armed forces decide to set up the bunker as a headquarters in the event of war, conflict or exercise.
