Kasteel van Oijen

To the east of the village of Oijen (close to Oss), between the beautiful Lindenlaan, the floodplains and the Maas, lies the castle of Oijen. In 1361 Maria van Brabant ordered the construction of the Castle of Oijen. As an outpost on the Maas, it had to protect Brabant against invasions by the Geldersen. This was once a gigantic castle with buildings extending beyond the dikes. What now remains are the two front buildings.
