Onze-Lieve-Vrouw kerk Nieuwkerke
The current three-aisled church was only built in 1922-23, in neo-Romanesque style by Jozef Vi? Rin. This church replaced the late Gothic church from the 16th century, which was destroyed in the First World War, except for the south-western facade. Two stained-glass windows tell the story of the murder of three clergymen during the religious troubles of the 16th century, when Nieuwkerke became the cradle of the 'geuzen'.
