Lettenberg bunkers

At the foot of the Lettenberg - an offshoot of the Kemmelberg - you can find four more bunkers from WWI. The shelters were built by British soldiers in 1917. They were the entrance to an underground headquarters. The underground part itself is no longer accessible, but you can enter one of the bunkers. In April 1918 the bunkers fell into German hands. One construction became a medical post. You can recognize this bunker by the Red Cross symbol. One hideout now provides shelter for bats. The Lettenberg site is accessible via a hiking trail and can be visited free of charge.
