The Linie van de Munnikenhof is a system of earthen walls and canals. Although it was built as a fortification, there was never any fighting. Only in 1944 a few German troops had dug in here. Polish troops from Breda immediately chased them with flame throwers. The Line, built in 1701, was part of the Zuiderfrontier, a frontier to protect the area between Breda and Geertruidenberg. Together with the Linie van Den Hout and the Spinolaschans, this is now a beautiful nature reserve where you can walk.
