Sint-Dimpna Zorggeschiedenis & Gasthuismuseum

The museum is housed in the complex of the Oud Gasthuis van Geel, which was founded in the 13th century. It offers a vivid picture of the daily life in the Gasthuis and the life of the Augustinian Hospital Sisters who took care of the sick. The museum was renovated at the beginning of 2017, adding a real Dimpna experience to the existing museum spaces. The large Dimpa hall underwent a real metamorphosis, in which the reliquary comes into its own beautifully. Moreover, you can discover a lot of extra photo and video material. Visitors can become acquainted with the 17th-century figures via an audio guide. Sisters and the sick tell how they ended up in the hospital and what life was like in centuries past. Groups have the option to explore the museum with a guide.
