You cycle through the thunderous city of Aalst that has more heritage pearls in store for you in addition to the Carnival. Since last year, the harvest and folklore festival De Pikkeling has been added to the Unesco list of Flemish intangible cultural heritage. The elegant belfry tower of the Oud Schepenhuis is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the St. Martin's Church you can admire the stained glass windows, the flower cellar, the unique sacrament tower and a real Peter Paul Rubens! Cycle further to the Faluintjesstreek, the four boroughs of Baardegem, Herdersem, Meldert and Moorsel are about the 'green lung' of Aalst.
