Buda Kunstencentrum

The Buda Arts Center has been active since 2004 on the Buda Island, between the northern district of Overleie and the historic center of Kortrijk. In addition to organizing contemporary theater and dance productions and film performances, the arts center also offers space to artists. They can create in peace and put the finishing touches to their works of art, which they then exhibit in larger cities such as the northern French metropolis of Lille (Lille). For its activities, Buda Arts Center can make use of some characteristic buildings that help determine the view of Kortrijk. The beautiful Tacktoren is the former, completely renovated cooling tower of the former Tack Brewery. Since 2010, the artist's studio has been located in the Budafabriek, formerly the textile factory De Smet de Naeyere. And then there is also the Budascoop, before the arrival of Kinepolis the largest cinema complex in Kortrijk. The Buda Arts Center programs both film and theater productions there. Every year, the arts center organizes the cross-border festival Next, where artists from the Eurometropolis Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai can do their thing.
