Beklimming Grebbeberg

Unlike many other climbs, this hill is not known for its beauty, but for a black page in Dutch history. Many Dutch soldiers died here in 1940 and fought hard against the German enemy as part of the Grebbe-line. 380 Dutch soldiers are buried on the military plot on top of the Grebbeberg. The ascent of the Grebbeberg is nothing special. With only 600 meters in length and more than 40 meters in height, it is not a scare. Fortunately, the Grebberberg has a secret weapon that can make it quite spicy; the Grebbedijk. Almost every cyclist comes to cycle via this dike. With a little westerly wind (and we still sometimes have that in the Netherlands), many cyclists at the foot of the Grebbeberg are already on their bikes like a dead bird. Those who still have to destroy the Grebbeberg with pieces of around 12% will have a hard time.
