Oude Zeeplein

The beach started here until 1971. The dune area is 'new land' of about 150 hectares, which is made from 19 million cubic meters of sand that was left over from the construction of the Europoort. Engineer Van Dixhoorn decided to spray the sand behind the Noorderpier at Hoek van Holland into the sea. This created a triangular coastal widening with the name Van Dixhoorndriehoek.
