Estate
Landgoed Bornia
Bornia used to be owned by a family from Leeuwarden. The family lived at 'Bornia State' in Leeuwarden. Bornia means border; the estate was so called because it was on the border of Driebergen and Zeist. Bornia is home to one of the most pristine dune areas of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. People already lived there in the Ice Age, according to excavations where remains of very old settlements and burial mounds have been found. Bornia is managed by Het Utrechts Landschap. Together with the Heidestein and Noordhout estates, it forms a large, continuous nature reserve
